Curriculum Areas
The curriculum is reviewed each year to accompany the needs of the pupils. We believe that successful learning depends on catering to the specific needs of every individual child. To achieve this, we have developed a curriculum that offers a wide range of courses that will be matched to the different learning styles and aptitudes of our pupils.

 Main Features

  • Year 7 offer transition classes for some pupils, along side the standard provision, and which will cater for pupils in a way which focuses on the new learning expectations in the move from KS2 to KS3.
  • New KS4 curriculum offering Standard, Pre-vocational and Vocational pathways giving pupils variety in courses and accreditation whilst providing access to at least 8 GCSE/ equivalents for all three pathways.
  • Extensive curriculum enrichment and support strategies that reach across the full range of ability from ‘Fast track’ opportunities for our gifted and talented pupils to the intervention work to enhance competency in the core skills of targeted groups.
  • Extension of advanced level (A level) courses and securing the foundations, through collaborative working (with other High schools and Colleges), of the 14 – 19 continuum.
The over riding philosophy behind all the changes is the principle of ‘Every Child Matters’ and we are confident that this approach will lead to significant improvement in motivation, achievement and engagement for all our pupils. Teachers will be able to target pupil needs more specifically leading to increasingly efficient and effective teaching and learning.
