Carr Manor High School’s GCSE results are the best ever in the school’s history, with over 41% of pupils achieving at least 5 A*-C GCSE grades, 10% more than the school’s previous highest record of 31%. The results are testimony to the hard work and effort that pupils have made across a wide range of academic and vocational courses with many pupils each achieving between 5 and 13 GCSE qualifications.

The school has introduced a number of intervention strategies in recent years to help each pupil achieve his or her absolute best. This ‘personalised learning’ approach has enabled staff to provide a range of support, including one-one mentoring, additional revision classes and specialist guest speakers. Simon Flowers, Headteacher said “Over the last two years, we have really got to know our children well, through coaching, monitoring their progress and ensuring that we target effective support as soon as any difficulties arise. This approach is now paying dividends and we’re delighted that pupils can now enjoy these well deserved results. We are also delighted for the staff and parents who have supported and encouraged throughout.”

Carr Manor High School’s SAT Results have also been outstanding this year again the best in the history of the school with a larger percentage of pupils achieving either national averages or higher for Science, Maths and English.   Chris Edwards, chief executive of Education Leeds, said:“Carr Manor High is an excellent, improving school where many young people are not just meeting but exceeding expectation.  “Simon and his dedicated, talented colleagues are transforming the school’s curriculum, helping pupils enjoy learning and achieve good results.  “This fantastic team, together with the school’s brilliant new learning environment, will continue to raise standards and help even more of this community’s young people to achieve their best.”
