In September 2006, a new school building opened. This new building offers some of the best learning facilities in the city to its pupils, including:

• Smart-board technology in every classroom;
• Master classrooms for intensive specialist subject teaching for KS4;
• Sixth form centre and common room;
• Wireless ICT technology for the whole site;
• Specialist learning environments for subjects such as construction, textiles, and music;
• Pupil Support suite with 'the link' which has the capacity and expertise to support all learning needs;
• Connexions office and careers base;
• Excellent sport facilities such as full sized sports hall, synthetic sports pitch, hard court areas and new sports fields;
• State of the art security features including electronic gates and doors, CCTV coverage, 2m high fences and covered courtyards for the safety and well being of pupils.

Sports and languages have been chosen as specialist areas as it is felt that within the school these areas will promote self-confidence, good character and learning for all its pupils, whilst developing pride in the school.
